Panthers lose for first time

For the first time this season the Alma Panthers did not come away with a victory on Friday night. The Panthers fall to (6-1) following their 26-14 lose to the Carrollton Cavaliers (6-1). It took both offences most of the first quarter to warm up. However, following a interception by Brandon Huff, Brec Alward found pay dirt for the first score of the game to put the Panthers up 6-0 late in the first. That's when the Cavaliers run game woke up. They responded early in the second with a touchdown run of there own to go up 7-6. After a Panthers punt the Cavaliers converted on fourth and goal to push there lead to 13-6. The Panthers then pushed there way inside of the Cavaliers 10yd line, but are stopped on fourth down to end the half. The Panthers forced a Cavalier punt on there first possession of the second half. Then Brec Alward takes the Panthers first play for an 80yd touchdown run to put the Panthers back on top 14-13. On the Cavaliers next possession they marched the ball down the field, and ended it with another touchdown to go back on top 19-14 to end the third quarter. In the fourth the Panthers offence was stymied by a tough, physical Cavalier defense. The Panthers where held on there side of the 50 the remainder of the game. The Cavaliers would then salt the game away with a 25yd touchdown run to put them up 26-14 with only two minuets left in the game.
